Pre-Service Teacher Modeling Team

This modeling team of doctoral students came together to study how pre-service teachers responded to being introduced to mathematical modeling in their mathematical methods course.

Andre Perkoski

Andre is a part time doctoral student at Montclair State University and a full time instructor at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. He teaches mathematics courses geared for education, business, and liberal arts majors. His research interests involve using mathematical modeling as an instructional tool especially for non-math majors at the college level. Also, it is rumored he is allergic to having his photo taken.

Elise Lahiere

Elise Lahiere is a doctoral candidate and currently works as a research assistant. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Master's degree in Statistics at MSU, where she worked for eight years as a Course Coordinator. Her professional experiences have mainly focused on teaching, developing course content, supporting students, and providing training for tutors and graduate assistants. In her spare time she looks to provide resources for teachers through her website. Her key research interests include mathematical modeling and perseverance.

Amanda Provost

Amanda Provost is currently a full time doctoral student and research assistant in the Mathematics Education PhD program at Montclair State University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education at Montclair State University, with a minor in Psychology. She taught middle school (6-8th grades) math and science for 4 years. Her research interests include mathematical modeling and math & science integration in STEM education.

Geena Taite

Geena Taite is a Mathematics Educator at the Diana C. Lobosco STEM Academy in Wayne, NJ and a Doctoral Candidate in Mathematics Education at Montclair State University. Geena is a 2023 New Jersey state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.

Youngjun Kim

Youngjun Kim is a Doctoral Candidate and Research Assistant in Mathematics Education at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature at SungKyunKwan University in Seoul, South Korea. He taught middle and high school mathematics in both South Korea and the US. His research interests include mathematical modeling and metacognition as well as international comparative studies in math education.
